1990s Revival
Remember “high-end sweatpants” made headlines couple years ago and remember Vetements’ Reebok collection last season. If you thought Reebok was the height of it all, you’re wrong. 2017AW runways and showrooms we visited suggest the upcoming trend will shame Jerry Seinfeld-esque normcore style for all the buttons you have to do up.

Bring in Kappa:
This Italian sportswear founded in 1916 saw its high fashion heyday during the 90s with Von Dutch, Adidas Stan Smith and Tommy Hilfiger. There was Gosha Rubchinskiy’s Fila and Kappa covered 2017SS, even Kinfolk, the Copenhagen-based lifestyle community magazine, teamed up with Kappa for a line of sportswear. (Is Von Dutch making a comeback as well? What about all the United Colours of Benetton sweaters we threw out?) Kappa will always be there for fashion. When fashion is about to give up, a Kappa collaboration will scoop it up.
This season, choose your Kappa well. Christophe Decarnin’s Faith Connexion 2017FW features loose fit sequin Kappa trousers as well as the classic side taped track pants in oversized fits. Marcelo Burlon fused its geometric logo with Kappa’s and created tracksuits and sweatshirts in classic athlete fit.
Unsure of the future of this nostalgia filled trend? Check out Palm Angel’s 2018SS collection here for guidance.
Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld once said “"Jogging pants are a sign of defeat. You've lost control of your life, so you go out in jogging pants” but how does he feel now?
