Like the Spanish King: Loewe 2017 AW Coming Soon
Coming Soon at Kokko - Loewe by the LVMH Group was founded in 1846 in Madrid by a group of Spanish leather artisans, later joined by a German craftsman, Enrique Loewe Roessberg. Spanish leather craft is renowned, many designers we present at Kokko choose to manufacture leather goods in Spain for a good reason. Besides its artisanal foundation, the brand was granted the title of ‘Supplier to the Royal Court’ by King Alfonso XIII (1886–1931) of Spain in 1905. How do they, the modern monarchs, dress today? Loewe, often compared as the ‘Hermes of Spain,’ continues to dress the tanned & laid back Spanish royal families. I guess Kate Middleton first comes to mind when discussing royal styles, the straight haired riding boots style, it’s alright and classic but the British royals’ Spaniard relatives, the Spanish royal family seems to take a bit more laid back European approach to their wardrobe. They’re tanned, re-marries three times, dances flamenco and are seen holding cigarettes out in the public.
Do think Hermes in materials but with bold designs and attitudes. The current creative director of Loewe, Jonathan Anderson, is leading the brand into a quirky yet ‘cultural’ revolution. 2017 AW Menswear for Loewe presented a youthful post-industrial inspirations topped with sailor motifs. The women’s ready-to-wear was a sophisticated collage of polka dots, vintage checks and hand-woven textures in a cinematic manner, topped off by exaggerated Western style hats. As for accessories, there were the Spanish heritage leather craftsman made stuffed cat-motif purse or a white tote bag with printed toast bread motif.
